Accused child sex offender found more than a decade later, half a country away
SEDALIA, Mo. (KCTV) - An arrest has been made more than a decade after a man found in Sedalia was accused of multiple child sex crimes halfway across the country.
Pettis County, Missouri, Circuit Court records filed on Thursday, June 12, indicate that Aleksandr Meshkov, 34, of Sedalia, has been arrested in connection with child sex crimes he was accused of in the State of Washington.
A probable cause statement filed by the Pettis County Sheriff’s Office revealed that just after 2:05 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11, law enforcement officials were made aware of a resident who had an extraditable warrant. Meshkov had been accused of two counts of child rape in the first degree.
Investigators noted that Meshkov was found at his place of employment, the Prysmian Group, as he was detained. He was booked into the Pettis County Detention Center pending extradition.
Whatcom County, Washington, Superior Court records indicated that Meshkov was charged with two counts of rape after the conclusion of an investigation in 2011. A warrant was issued for his arrest on Aug. 25, 2011 - he was 21 at the time.
As of Thursday afternoon, Meshkov remains behind bars in Missouri. No further information has been released.
