MARSHALL, Mo. (KCTV) - A man convicted of selling narcotics less than 5 months ago has been charged again with drug trafficking after 75 grams meth and dozens of baggies were found during a traffic stop.

Saline County, Missouri, Circuit Court records filed on Monday, June 9, indicate that Lee A. Hines, 47, of Warsaw, has been charged in connection with the incident.

A probable cause statement filed by the Saline County Sheriff’s Office revealed that on Saturday, June 7, law enforcement officials spotted a white Ford F-150 headed north on Highway 65 near Blackwater River with illegal blue lights on the grill. A traffic stop ensued.

During the stop, law enforcement officials noted that they spotted smoking substances and abrasions consistent with methamphetamine usage on the driver. It was also found that the driver, identified as Hines, had been on probation for a previous narcotics distribution conviction in January - less than 5 months beforehand.

As Hines was found to be on probation for a previous narcotics conviction, investigators said they asked for consent to search his pickup; however, he refused. A K-9 Unit was requested instead before law enforcement officials were alerted to the presence of methamphetamine.

The Sheriff’s Office noted that two black magnetic boxes were found underneath the driver’s seat. Around 75 grams of methamphetamine were found inside, along with a digital scale, dozens of plastic baggies, metal knuckles and drug paraphernalia.

As a result, Hines has been charged with trafficking drugs, unlawful use of a weapon and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. If convicted, he could be sentenced to up to 20 years behind bars and be ordered to pay a fine of up to $32,000.

A docket hearing has been scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 18, with a preliminary hearing expected at 1:30 p.m. on July 2. As of Thursday evening, Hines remains behind bars with no bond listed.

No further information has been released.
