Years-long investigation results in child sex crimes charges for Independence man
INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (KCTV) - An Independence man has been arrested and charged in connection with a years-long investigation into the sexual assault of a child.
Jackson County, Missouri, Circuit Court records filed on Thursday, June 5, indicate that Louis S. Allen, 37, of Independence, has been charged in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a child under the age of 12.
A probable cause statement filed by the Independence Police Department revealed that in February of 2023, law enforcement officials were made aware of a possible child sex crime that happened the October before.
In April, investigators noted that during a forensic interview, the victim told them that after her caretaker had fallen asleep, Allen took her to his apartment. He sexually assaulted her before the caretaker woke up and came to retrieve her. Allen allegedly told her not to tell what happened.
Law enforcement officials noted that it was not until July 2023 that a Person of Interest Order for Allen was issued with the charge of statutory sodomy. He was found and arrested in August.
During an interview with investigators, Allen denied all allegations against him. Finally, on Thursday, June 6, 2025, charges of statutory sodomy and child molestation in the second degree were filed against him.
A bond review hearing has been scheduled for 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11, with a preliminary hearing expected at 10:30 a.m. on June 30. As of Thursday evening, June 6, Allen remains behind bars on a $100,000 bond.
