Motorcycle driver injured after entering highway roundabout in wrong direction
WARRENSBURG, Mo. (KCTV) - A motorcycle driver was taken to a metro area hospital after he was thrown from his bike as he entered a highway roundabout headed in the wrong direction.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol indicates that around 5:20 p.m. on Monday, June 9, emergency crews were called to the area of northbound Highway 13 at the S. Business 13 roundabout, south of Warrensburg, with reports of a motorcycle crash.
When first responders arrived, they said they found a 64-year-old Liberty man had been driving a 2001 Kawasaki Vulcan 800 north on the highway when, for an unknown reason, he crossed the centerline and entered the roundabout in the wrong direction.
State Troopers said the bike began to flip and slide on its left side as the driver was thrown in the process. He was taken to Centerpoint Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators noted that the driver was not wearing a helmet at the time. The bike was totaled as a result. No further information has been released.
